Tradition and Transformation： U.S. - Taiwan Relations, 1979-2014
White Palace Performace Hall
The Taiwan Relations Act (TRA) was enacted by the United States Congress on April 10, 1979. It has served as the cornerstone of the relationship between the United States and Taiwan ever since. The TRA provided for the founding of the American Institute in Taiwan, which is charged with carrying out commercial, cultural, and other relations between the people of the United States and the people of Taiwan. The friendship between the people of the United States and Taiwan has not only endured, but flourished. Through displays of photographs, texts, and artifacts, the exhibit demonstrates the close ties forged between the people of the United States and the people of Taiwan since the signing of the Taiwan Relations Act in 1979.
